ABOUT ME

Alma is a Berlin based multidisciplinary circus artist, coach and clinical psychologist who has found her passion in the points of contact between creativity and the psyche. She specializes in aerial hoop, rope, and contortion and has been training and performing floor, group, and partner acrobatics since the age of eight.

Choreography & Performance

Recently, Alma choreographed, produced, and premiered a work-in-progress of her duo show DISSONANZ with Tasnim Al-Bagikni at the Irish Aerial Dance Fest

(An Grianan Theater, funded by Fidget Feet). She is part of 7womencompany's production NORA and is currently working on choreography and performance for and with german singer MINE's orchestra tour in November 2025.

Furthermore Alma is co-creating (Anne-Katrin Schlegel & Tasnim Al-Bagikni) SPiEGELSPiEL – a full length circus show combining literature by Michael Ende, paintings by Edgar Ende and circus. This project is funded by Neue Künste Ruhr and the ministry for culture & science North-Rhine-Westfalia. SPiEGELSPiEL will be premiering in October 25.

Alma’s style of movement pushes the boundaries of genre and expectations. Authentic expression and a confident vulnerability are always her work's primary aims; accidental beauty is often a result but not the intention.  One audience member describes the experience of watching Alma "as changeable and dynamic as nature”.

Teaching & Education

Alma has also composed acts and full showcases for her students in Berlin. She teaches in regular class settings (if asked nicely), offers private coaching and workshops (very gladly), and does project-based circus work with children.

Following 10 years of youth circus, Alma took 2 years of multiple aerial acrobatics classes a week at various studios in Berlin. She regularly attends local and international workshops and week-long intensives on a variety of different aerial apparatuses (including rope, hoop, straps, silks, harness work, and spiral) but also in soft acrobatics, handstands, partner acrobatics, and dance. Her technique and devisement has largely been shaped by her own research in frequent open training sessions and ongoing private classes with different coaches concerning movement quality, technique, and creativity.

Coaching & Psychology

Next to her circus practice, Alma has a masters degree in clinical psychology and is in training to become a psychodrama therapist. She is developing educational offerings focusing on authentic movement, creative practice, and the interplay of circus and psychology.

When Alma is not busy being an absolute art enthusiast you can find her biking from one end of Berlin to the other, or reading parts of all the four books she brought to her favourite café - Monsieur Ibrahim.
